Why cups to grams depends on the ingredient
A cup measures volume, a gram measures weight. A cup of flour weighs about 125 g, a cup of sugar 200 g and a cup of honey 340 g, because they are not equally dense. That is why a single “cups to grams” number does not exist, and why this converter asks for the ingredient.

US cup or metric cup?
American recipes use a US cup of 236.6 ml. Recipes from Australia, New Zealand and Canada often use a metric cup of 250 ml, about 6% more. Switch the cup size under the result.
How to measure flour with a cup
Stir the flour, spoon it into the cup until it overflows, then level it with the back of a knife. Do not tap or press the cup. Scooping straight from the bag can add 20–30% more flour.
