How to scale a recipe
- Paste the ingredient list, one ingredient per line. The example is there to show the idea.
- Enter how many servings the recipe makes and how many you need, or tap a multiplier such as ½× or 2×.
- Every number at the start of a line is multiplied. Cups and spoons come out as kitchen fractions, grams as round numbers.
What does not scale in a straight line
Salt, spices and leaveners (baking powder, baking soda, yeast) are best scaled a little less than the rest when you double or triple a recipe, then adjusted to taste. Baking times change with the size of the pan rather than the amount of batter, so use the pan size converter and check early.
Eggs
When the result is half an egg, beat one egg and use half of it (about 25 g), or round to the nearest whole egg for forgiving recipes like pancakes.
